Downloading media is the number one reason people switch to Insta Pro. The official Instagram app lets you save posts to collections, but the moment you want the actual file — a reel for offline viewing, a photo for your wallpaper, a story you were tagged in — you’re stuck with screen recording and screenshots. Insta Pro fixes that with built-in, one-tap downloads.
This guide walks you through downloading reels, photos, stories, and more with Insta Pro v15.80: where the buttons are, how to change quality and save locations, and what to do when a download doesn’t work. New to the app? Start with our installation guide first.
Why Insta Pro Beats Screen Recording
Screen recording works in a pinch, but it’s a poor substitute: the quality drops, you capture UI elements and notifications, the audio can desync, and the file sizes are enormous. Insta Pro downloads the original file straight from Instagram’s servers — full resolution, original audio, no watermarks, no interface clutter. A reel that takes 80 MB as a screen recording might be 8 MB as a direct download.
How to Download Reels Step by Step
- Open Insta Pro and find the reel you want to save.
- Look for the download icon — it appears on the reel interface, usually near the like/comment/share buttons or in the three-dot menu, depending on your version.
- Tap it. The reel begins downloading immediately; you’ll see a progress indicator.
- When it finishes, the video is in your phone’s gallery (and in the Insta Pro download folder — more on that below).
That’s genuinely all there is to it. No copying links, no pasting URLs into shady downloader websites, no accounts to create. If the download icon isn’t showing, check that media downloads are enabled in Insta Pro’s own settings under the Downloads section.
How to Download Photos
- Open the photo post in Insta Pro.
- Tap the download icon on the post (or open the three-dot menu and choose Download).
- The full-resolution image saves to your gallery instantly.
For carousel posts (multiple photos in one post), Insta Pro lets you download each image individually — just swipe to the photo you want and tap download. Some builds also offer a “download all” option for carousels, which saves every image in one go.
Downloading Stories, Highlights and Long Videos
The same download button works across nearly every media surface in the app:
- Stories: open a story and tap the download icon to save the photo or video.
- Highlights: downloads work inside profile highlights too — great for saving a creator’s archived stories.
- Long-form videos: IGTV-style and long feed videos download just like reels.
- Profile pictures: long-press any avatar to view it full-size, with an option to save it.
One ethical note: only download content you have a right to keep — your own posts, content shared with you, or media the creator has permitted you to save. Downloading someone’s work to repost as your own is a fast way to get reported.
Where Do Downloads Go?
By default, Insta Pro saves everything to a dedicated folder (usually InstaPro or Download/InstaPro) that your gallery app picks up automatically, so downloaded reels and photos appear alongside your camera photos. If you prefer to keep things separate, you can change the save location in the download settings — for example, to a folder your gallery app ignores, keeping downloads out of your main photo timeline.
File names include the username and a timestamp by default, which makes it easy to find a specific download later without opening every file.
Download Quality Settings
Insta Pro’s download settings let you choose the quality of saved media:
- Original quality: saves the exact file Instagram serves — best for archiving and rewatching. This is the default and what most people should use.
- HD / high quality: on some builds you can force the highest available rendition of a video.
- Data saver: downloads a smaller, lower-resolution copy — useful if you’re on mobile data and just want a quick reference copy.
Note that “original quality” means the original as Instagram stores it, which is already compressed from what the creator uploaded. No downloader can recover quality Instagram never kept.
Downloading Multiple Posts at Once
Need to save a whole profile’s worth of content — say, backing up your own old posts? Tapping download on each post individually gets old fast. Insta Pro’s bulk download options (available in some builds under the profile menu) let you queue multiple posts. Downloads run in the background with a notification showing progress, so you can keep browsing while they complete.
For very large batches, do them on Wi-Fi: a hundred high-quality reels can easily total several gigabytes.
Troubleshooting Download Problems
The download button is missing. First, make sure you’re using a recent build — grab the latest from our download page. Then check Insta Pro’s settings: the download feature can be toggled off, and some themes hide the icon.
Downloads fail or stall at 0%. This is usually a network issue. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or restart the app. If it persists, clear Insta Pro’s cache (Android Settings > Apps > Insta Pro > Storage > Clear cache) — this doesn’t log you out.
“Download failed” on every reel. Instagram occasionally changes its media URLs, which can temporarily break downloads until the mod is updated. Check whether a newer Insta Pro build is available; these breakages are usually fixed within days.
Can’t find downloaded files. Check the custom save location in Insta Pro’s download settings, and make sure your gallery app is set to show the InstaPro folder. Files are also visible in any file manager under the configured path.
Downloads are low quality. Verify the quality setting is on “Original” rather than data saver, and remember that stories are inherently lower resolution than feed posts — that’s Instagram’s doing, not the downloader’s.
Frequently Asked Questions
Only if you follow the account and can already see the content. Insta Pro cannot bypass Instagram’s privacy — it downloads what your account is allowed to view, nothing more.
No. Downloads happen entirely on your device; Instagram does not notify creators when someone downloads their public content through a mod client.
No. Insta Pro saves the original file without any added watermark, unlike screen recordings or many third-party downloader sites.
Instagram periodically changes how media URLs are served, which can temporarily break downloading until Insta Pro is updated. Check our download page for the newest build, which usually fixes it within days.
Downloading for personal, offline use of content you can already view is generally tolerated, but redistributing someone else’s content without permission can violate copyright and Instagram’s terms. When in doubt, ask the creator.
Once you’ve tried one-tap downloads, going back to the official app feels broken — it’s the feature that converts the most sceptics. Pair it with the other tools in our hidden features guide and you’ll wonder how you ever put up with stock Instagram.
